Signs of the times

Signs that have appeared at the entrance to the Loop Trail, which is probably too wet to walk anyway.

Is this a sign of improved times coming for the housing industry? The new house under construction gets bigger every time you look.

Outside - Inside

These skiers are inside, right outside of Room 74 in Abington House.

Outside the Fitness Center is a special tree that attracts many many robins.

These skaters go round and round in the Hicks parlor.

You have to walk outside to watch the progress of the house being built.

These singers are inside the Abington Dining Room.

Outside the geothermal drilling is ugly, but inside it will be lovely.

Still walking

I am still walking for the Way to Health study at Penn. Almost every day I meet one deer or more on the Loop Trail.

Our bee keeper was installing a windbreak for the beehives today.

Peace Valley Again

I wanted to take the mackerel sky over Lake Galena, and had to shoot into the sun. It wasn't that dark at Peace Vallley this afternoon.

Mallard on the flooded lake

Kyaker

The path had many walkers and bikers.

The eagle was a long way off, and I just had my pocket Canon with me.

Out and About

Friday was a lovely day to be out, especially strolling along Big Oak Walk.

Some visitors enjoying the dog park

Peace Valley

The lake was very high, and though the day was beautiful there were no birds to be seen. A lovely spot for a walk after our Big dinner.

This was as far as we went

. There were no birds to be seen , but this was the afternoon.

As we were leaving we saw some of the usual suspects -

A buck, and many more deer

Canada geese

The Kill

This sharp-shinned hawk knocked himself out when he made the kill of the cedar waxwing. There was a loud thud, and both birds were lying on the sidewalk. I could see the hawk was still breathing, dashed home for the camera, and he was still there when I returned. He finally flew off, but without the cedar waxwing. I am calling it a "he" because it seems small.

New Oak Path

Yesterday I set out to clock the mileage for the loop walk using only pavement, no gravel. But this is what I encountered.

Today, new pavement!!!

Mileage 1.25, I think.
