This sharp-shinned hawk knocked himself out when he made the kill of the cedar waxwing. There was a loud thud, and both birds were lying on the sidewalk. I could see the hawk was still breathing, dashed home for the camera, and he was still there when I returned. He finally flew off, but without the cedar waxwing. I am calling it a "he" because it seems small.
