There were five geese in the wetlands - "five geese a-laying"?

There were a pair of mallards in the water.

There were 4 or 5 deer in the woods.

There are four eggs in the nest.  Maybe a house finch?  I have not seen the birds.

There is still an abundant patch of spring beauties on the Maris Trail.
